THE PDO ESPELETTE PEPPER SYNDICATE IS THE ONLY OFFICIAL ENTITY TO MANAGE THE PROTECTED DESIGNATION OF ORIGIN «PIMENT D’ESPELETTE AOP – EZPELETAKO BIPERRA».

Set up in 1993, the Espelette Pepper Syndicate was officially recognised on 04 July 2007 by the National Institute of Origin & Quality.

The Syndicate’s main statutory missions are to manage, control, protect and promote PDO Espelette Pepper.

Anyone wishing to produce Espelette Pepper must be a member of the syndicate.

The PDO Espelette Pepper industry is an exception in the world of agriculture, with its energy, and both the national and international reputation of Espelette pepper.

The commercial momentum of producers is what enables Espelette Pepper to be present in sales channels both in France and worldwide.

The Espelette Pepper industry is a united community of men and women. Through supervised production practices on a daily basis, solidarity, and local and international cooperation, we are investing in the development of agriculture which respects both the land and the environment.

Partnerships with local and national technical institutes to encourage more environmentally-friendly farming practices.

Support for operators in waste management by collecting Used Agricultural Films.
Participation in the Eco-packaging programme to recycle waste packaging.

Organisation of training courses in hygiene procedures to guarantee optimum health safety.
